As any regular producer of Drupal sites will know, be it a Developer, a Themer, an Administrator or all of the above, some times you want to be able to do something in Drupal which sounds simple, and in fact, IS very simple, but only when you know how.
One of the many projects I'm involved with is the heavy metal t-shirt and greetings cards online store Raging Horns (www.raginghorns.com) which is built in, yep, you guessed it, Drupal Commerce. Upon the advice of an excellent SEO friend of mine, some improvements were being made to the site to make it more friendly to Google. One of the things suggested was to turn off the "read more" on the body field on the product displays to show the full content on the page.
The means to turn this off is not at all apparent. I only found out how to do it by stumbling across a comment in an unrelated post on the Commerce Guys website, so I thought I would write it up in very plain terms for anyone else who may have the same issue.
To turn this off, go to your product display and go to "manage fields". Once there select the body field and click edit. One of the options for the field is titled "Wrapper markup" and will be set to Drupal default unless you've previously changed it. If you change this to "no markup - no wrapping HTML" and save the field, this is all that is required to make the "read more" display from your body field on your product display. A much nicer and more obvious method of doing this would be nice, and will hopefully be introduced in a future version of Drupal Commerce and / or Commerce Kickstart. But until then hopefully this post helps a few people!
